Bio + Resume
I was born in Costa Rica to a Jewish Belgian mother and a Nicaraguan father. I lived internationally most of my life as my mother fought poverty under the United Nations World Food Programme, which I think explains my tireless devotion to taking leftovers home and my commitment to being a responsible global citizen. The exposure to various languages and cultures influenced the art that draws me and that I create.
My path landed me at the University of Pennsylvania, where I was a passionless PreMed student. My favorite months were spent (not) studying Biology abroad in Costa Rica, where I made my closest friends with whom I started a podcast called Pillowtok. We provided listeners with insight on various topics and common human struggles.
After moving to New York City, I trained at the William Esper Studio for two years and became an actor and filmmaker. My background in storytelling led me to co-create the underground: notes, a webseries, and to produce, co-write, and act in Julian Got The Part, a film about actors and their lives. With my writing partner Krista Amigone, I develop work that centers women's stories.
Eventually, my passions for food, film, and social justice converged. Through my family nonprofit Palms for Life, a global nonprofit dedicated to social development for marginalized populations, I run the Ceres Food Film Festival, which challenges audiences to rethink food and their relationship to it.
I live in Brooklyn with my two magical children, love rain, dark mornings, and drink copious amounts of tea. I love obsessive focus on whatever it might be. I believe in honesty, mostly.
